  Leicester parts company with Shakespeare
Posted by: Carravetta - Yesterday, 07:30 AM - Forum: Premier League - No Replies

Michael Appleton will be in charge of the First Team as Caretaker Manager for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Swansea City, supported by First Team Coaches Mike Stowell and Adam Sadler.

Leicester City Vice Chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha said: “Craig has been a great servant to Leicester City – during his spells as an Assistant Manager and since taking over as Manager in challenging circumstances in February. His dedication to the Club and to his work has been absolute and the contribution he made to the most successful period in Leicester City history is considerable.

“However, our early promise under Craig’s management has not been consistently evident in the months since and the Board feels that, regrettably, a change is necessary to keep the Club moving forward – consistent with the long-term expectations of our supporters, Board and owners.

“Craig is and will remain a very popular, respected figure at Leicester City and will be welcome back at King Power Stadium in future, both professionally and as a friend of the Club.”

The Club will now begin the process of identifying and appointing its next First Team Manager and will make no further comment on the process until the appropriate time.

Pochettino would sign a 15-year contract to stay at Tottenham
Posted by: Redblood - 17-10-2017, 08:02 AM - Forum: Premier League - Replies (1)

Mauricio Pochettino has told Tottenham Hotspur that he is ready to commit the next 15 years of his career to the club if the chairman, Daniel Levy, is really willing to offer him that length of contract.

Levy had said that he would like “nothing more” than for Pochettino to see through his work at Tottenham over the next “10 to 15 years” and, upon being asked whether he could ever see himself at Real Madrid or Barcelona, the 45-year-old instead professed his commitment to Spurs.

“I could not train Barcelona – it’s impossible,” said Pochettino, who previously managed their rivals Espanyol. “I am very happy in Tottenham. I would love to stay 10 or 15 years here. It’s always up to the owner or chairman to decide if you’re a manager for a short time or long period. If he wants, I would like to sign that contract.”

Levy’s comments came in a new book, Brave New World, about Pochettino. The book’s author Guillem Balague also interviewed Pochettino on Monday for the Spanish newspaper AS when the Spurs manager said that Madrid had something “special … that’s impossible to describe”.

Pochettino added: “If you haven’t played against Madrid in the Bernabéu it’s like you haven’t been baptised.”

Ashley puts Newcastle up for sale
Posted by: Redblood - 17-10-2017, 07:15 AM - Forum: Premier League - No Replies

As a result of increasing press speculation regarding the future of Newcastle United, the owner of the club, St. James Holdings Limited, wishes to clarify its intentions.
As one of the Premier League's oldest and best supported football clubs - and for the benefit of its many fans and supporters in the UK and across the world - Newcastle United requires a clear direction and a path to a bright and successful future.

To give the club the best possible opportunity of securing the positioning and investment necessary to take it to the next level, at what is an important time in its history, its present ownership has determined that it is in the best interests of Newcastle United and its fans for the club to be put up for sale.

To give an incoming owner the maximum possible flexibility to make meaningful investment in the club, including in its playing squad, the sale process will give interested parties the opportunity of deferring substantial payments.

A process will now commence of identifying new ownership for the club that will be capable of delivering the sustained investment in and dedication to the club that is necessary for it to achieve its ambitions.
